
Johnson & Johnson MedTech has introduced the ETHICON 4000 Stapler, a surgical device for managing tissue complexities and delivering staple line integrity.
It aims to reduce risk factors for surgical leaks and bleeding complications across various specialities.
According to the company, the ETHICON 4000 and ETHICON 3D Reloads feature 3D Staple Technology, a redesigned end effector that offers staple consistency to reduce leak pathways.
Both products have been cleared for use in open and laparoscopic procedures.
The new stapling technology, along with the reloads, is set for future exclusive use with the OTTAVA Robotic Surgical System.
During the American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery Annual Meeting in Washington, DC, from 15 to 19 June 2025, the company will display the ETHICON 4000 System and its portfolio of technologies.

The ETHICON 4000 Stapler with ETHICON 3D Reloads addresses these issues, decreasing staple line interventions by 23% against traditional 2D staples.
Since 2017, ETHICON Surgical Stapling devices have been associated with enhanced clinical and economic outcomes in various procedures.
The new ETHICON 4000 Stapler and ETHICON 3D Reloads continue this trend, offering offset closure of staple legs for even compression and better outcomes.
The redesigned stapler reload features enhanced Gripping Surface Technology, optimised to stabilise tissue and minimise tissue slippage.

The company recently introduced the KINCISE 2 surgical automated system, designed to enhance surgical efficiency in knee and hip revision procedures.
