The top five companies accounted for 13% of patenting activity
³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏÍø of patenting activity by companies shows that Align Technology filed the most 3D printing patents within the medical industry in Q3 2024. The company filed 18 3D printing-related patents in the quarter, compared with 12 in the previous quarter. It was followed by Johnson & Johnson with 9 3D printing patent filings, Carlsmed (7 filings), and Stryker (5 filings) in Q3 2024.
Patenting activity was driven by the US with a 35% share of total patent filings
The largest share of 3D printing related patent filings in the medical industry in Q3 2024 was in the US with 35%, followed by China (14%) and Japan (6%). The share represented by the US was 6% higher than the 28% share it accounted for in Q2 2024.
