Brain Navi Biotechnology has a strategic collaboration with Medtreq Medical Equipment to expand the distribution of its NaoTrac neurosurgical navigation robot.

The collaboration will enable the distribution of the robot in the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) region, Egypt, Jordan and other countries in the Middle East, as well as Indonesia, Singapore, the Philippines and Malaysia.

Medtreq’s branch in the Philippines will handle the distribution.

NaoTrac incorporates a unique SMART Technology that combines machine vision and internal algorithms to perform robot-assisted surgery.

This streamlines surgical procedures through the use of real-time imaging, producing minimally invasive results.

The neurosurgical navigation robot has already obtained CE Mark certification and local government approval.

Brain Navi Biotechnology CEO Jerry Chen said: “We seek strategic partners that can accelerate Brain Navi’s growth mission.

“This partnership is a significant step toward scaling our business and getting more robot-assisted neurosurgery into the world.

“We truly believe that the collaboration between Brain Navi and Medtreq can maximise the value of both sides to bring the neurosurgery to the next level.”

The company stated that the partnership will enable more innovative outcomes in Middle East neurosurgery, such as in the United Arab Emirates, Jordan, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, and many other countries.

It will help to streamline surgical procedures, improve surgical accuracy, and pass-on knowledge that will reduce learning curves.

Medtreq Medical Equipment general manager Sherif Bayoumy said: “We are always scouting for the new technology to help as many people as we can.

“We have many neurosurgeons coming from Riyadh and some other territories keening and willing to learn more about this technology, and the NaoTrac from Brain Navi is one of them.”

Last month, Brain Navi Biotechnology announced plans to seek approval for NaoTrac from the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) by the end of the year.
